It bothers me that people do not actually understand OCD
I constantly hear people say "I'm so OCD about keeping my room clean" and "all my books have to be in alphabetical order, I'm so OCD". I hear it on TV all the time too.
The amount of pain and anxiety OCD has caused me and obviously many others is tremendous. I've gotten a lot better, but in an age where people are so concerned about being "tolerant" it really pisses me off when people have no idea what it is, which is why I don't tell most people I have it. Perfectionism isn't OCD, at best it's OCPD, and people rarely understand the huge difference between the two. I have OCD but I'm not even close to what you call a neat freak. It's all about the intrusive thoughts and how they affect your everyday behavior. There needs to be more awareness about mental health in general.
